Our Stories...

Sarah's Story...

Most of you have heard the story of how we met, but for those of you who haven’t, here’s how it all came to be.

Daniel and I met during my sophomore year at New York University where I am in the Environmental Studies program.

It was the end of the spring semester, the middle of exams, and I was in desperate need of a break away from the books.

A group of us decided to head out to a nearby bar and grill for a quick bite.  Before we knew it, the evening was quickly turning into the morning.  I needed to get back to studying, so we reluctantly decided to call it a night.

As we were tallying our tab, a round of drinks made their way to our table.  We were told the drinks were courtesy of the gentlemen across the room.

As the boys made their way to our table, one fellow in particular stood out from the crowd.  He was tall, dark and handsome with the kindest eyes I’ve ever seen.  Our eyes met and there was an instant spark.

We invited the boys to join us and as we all tried to squeeze around our table I noticed that Daniel and I were sitting nowhere near each other.  We exchanged glances and smiles, but we didn’t chat at all that night.  I’m still not sure why I didn’t just pick up and walk over to where he was sitting, but I didn’t.

I thought about him that night and into the next day and was kicking myself for not making my way over to introduce myself.

Two days later I wrote my final exam.  On my way out of the exam room I heard someone call my name.  I didn’t recognize the voice and when I turned to see who was calling me, I saw those kind eyes again.

Daniel came up and introduced himself.  It turns out he attends NYU as well and had written an exam earlier that day.  We sat and chatted and really hit it off.  Daniel invited me to a movie that evening and I eagerly accepted.  I wasn’t going to miss the opportunity a second time to get to know him.  We had a wonderful evening and I knew that night that he was the man I would marry.

A year later, while watching a movie in Bryant Park, Daniel proposed to me...and the rest is history.
