Other Great Hotels on the Island
Looking for another place to stay? Here is a list of places the bride and groom recommend. Hotel Galvez - Great historic hotel, right on the beach. The bench where Shane proposed is located across the street. If you stay here, definitely take a walk along the seawall and check out "our bench." Tremont Hotel - Galveston's most famous hotel. Located in the heart of downtown and Galveston's Strand Historic District. This is a great place to stay if you enjoy strolling past shops, galleries, restaurants, bars and local coffee houses. Laura works one block from this historic hotel. Interestingly, Lindsay - Shane's sister and one of Laura's bridesmaids - and her husband John had their wedding reception at a ballroom in this hotel. Harbor House - Beautiful hotel right next to Pier 21 and the Galveston Wharf. Want to travel to Galveston by boat? This hotel has marina slips to rent. |

Murdochs
Check out this souvenir gift shop on the seawall which was rebuilt after Hurricane Ike destroyed it. It has a fabulous patio where you can enjoy drinks and a beautiful view of the Gulf. |
Rudy and Paco's
Great South American, Steak and Seafood Restaurant. Laura worked here during the summer of 2005. Paco, the owner, is a character and will make you smile! |
M&M Restaurant
Very delicious and full of island history. |
Mosquito's Cafe
Laura especially loves this cafe. Mosquito's sister operation, Patty Cakes, will be baking the wedding cake along with the groom's cake. It promises to be a treat. |
Mod Coffeehouse
Shane and Laura have spent many an hour here, debating, reading, studying or just having a good time. |
